You can pair your devices either by scanning a QR code, or via Handoff.
1) On the iOS app, navigate to the pairing page, select QR Code, and tap continue. You'll be taken to a page with a QR scanner. Make sure you have given Watcher access to the camera (this can be configured in Settings > Privacy > Camera).
2) On the macOS app, navigate to the dog icon in the status bar, and click Devices > Add Device. You'll then see a QR code that you can scan with the iOS app.
1) Enable Handoff and Bluetooth on both devices. For instructions to setup Handoff, please see Apple's guide.
2) When you're done, open both apps. Note that the Mac app is open when you see a dog icon in the status bar. Navigate to the pairing page, select Handoff, and tap continue. When Watcher is ready to pair, you'll see the app icon appear in your Mac's dock as pictured above - click it to finish.
Check that both device have notifications enabled. On iOS, go to Settings > Notifications. On macOS, go to System Preferences > Notifications. If you've discovered one of them didn't have notifications enabled, restart the app on that device and try pairing again.
If it's not pairing via Handoff, verify that Handoff and Bluetooth are enabled on both devices. These must be signed into the same iCloud account (see The Mac icon isn't showing in the dock).
Watcher needs a network connection on both devices to communicate. If they're already connected to a network, check on the Mac app if they're paired with each other by going to: the status bar dog icon > Devices > [Your Device]. If they're already paired, try removing the device in question and pair again.
Watcher is an app that lives in your Mac's status bar; the icon only appears in the dock whenever both apps are open. If you're trying to pair devices over Handoff and the app's not showing in the dock, try restarting the iOS app or verifying that you've setup Handoff correctly. To pair via Handoff, they both must have Handoff and Bluetooth enabled, and be using the same iCloud account.
You can manage your paired devices from the dog icon in your Mac's status bar.
No. They only have to be near each other when pairing.
Yes. Notifications are sent and received over an internet connection.
Watcher is compatible with any Mac running macOS 10.11 or newer, and any iOS device running iOS 12 or newer.
Notifications are automatically forwarded to your Apple Watch as long as your iPhone is connected to it. Watcher is compatible with all Apple Watch models and watchOS versions.
